All users who wish to continue their stay in the Qkids world must meet these requirements by January 31, 2021. Let’s take a look at the requirements and find out what they are:
As values have shifted over the past few decades, there has been a demand for transparency in the workplace. Employees need to know that there is an equitable pay structure in place, and that they are not being systematically underpaid for the work that they do. And they need to be able to look at the requirements to see exactly what they need to do to advance. In the past, the requirements for advancement were not always transparent. So what are those requirements?
In a recent report by Qkids, they have laid out the requirements to teach in China in 2021. They have not only laid out the requirements but also discussed the preparations that need to be made to be able to teach in China in 2021. They discuss that applicants need to have the following qualifications to teach in China in 2021:

What are Qkids?
Founded in 2015, Qkids is an interactive learning platform that connects American and Canadian English teachers with young Chinese learners ages 6 to 12. Students have varying levels of language proficiency and are trained in a unique game-based approach to learning. As a Qkids teacher, you can guide your students from home through a program full of fun and engaging adventures. This is ideal for you if you are looking for a way to earn extra money, as the structure of the work environment is not ideal for teachers looking for a full-time position.
How do I become a Qkids teacher?
Do you just want to apply to Qkids and get that extra income you’ve always wanted? Please note that Qkids teacher requirements are known to be strict . So if you don’t want to waste your time, read on to find out if you are suitable for a teaching job at Qkids.
Basic conditions for Qkids
1. Being a native speaker
In this regard, Qkids is a bit more picky than other online ESL teaching companies. It’s no secret that many online English course providers require teachers to be native speakers. Some , like B. Vipkid , but turn a blind eye if you have a neutral accent and are allowed to work in the US and Canada. It is not like Qkids because their value proposition is Early learning with native speakers. During the verification process, you must :
- Whether you are in the United States or Canada
- If you need a visa to enter the United States or Canada
In addition, after the selection phase, you must provide a passport or other proof of identity and a self-presentation video – more on this later – showing your origins.
2. Educational experience
As with other online companies that teach English, you should have some teaching experience. If you do not select experience in the selection process, your application will be rejected. Don’t choose an option without experience! As you can see below, if you select an option other than ‘None of the above’, a new box will open. As the definition of experience with children is quite broad, option I have taught children in a context other than class has been added for you. If you already have some life experience, this requirement may not be essential. Think of a job, internship or even a volunteer position where you had to learn something. This can be one of the following options:
- Teaching of dance classes
- Training of employees
- Summer camps/guides
If you have experience teaching a skill and communicating with children, write it down and you’ll be ready. You’re not qualified yet? No problem. With other companies, you don’t need to have experience. Check out my guide on how to become an English teacher with no experience.
3. Right to work in the United States and Canada
You must be a native speaker and legally entitled to work in the United States and Canada, so you must be from these countries. As of 2019, the company has ended its partnership with California teachers due to California’s new independent contractor rule. However, some -counts report that the company has not stopped working with California teachers. If you’re from California, try to see if this applies to you. As mentioned above, you must also be in the US or Canada as their servers do not work properly outside of China, the US or Canada. If you want to travel abroad, you can try using a legal VPN (or not – some teachers have reported that they continue to teach with Qkids and even travel to other countries without problems). You can also apply to other ESL companies that do not have physical location requirements.
Educational needs of Qkids
Most English teacher jobs require you to have at least a bachelor’s degree. That’s not true, I’m an excellent teacher and I don’t have a degree! That’s a fair statement, but that’s the way it is. China’s Ministry of Education has raised the standards for online education, which is a game changer for them. This requirement is non-negotiable and Qkids will check that you have a degree as you will need to upload a copy of your official degree. There is no doubt about that. The good news is that you can also get your degree in an unrelated field, such as engineering or architecture. You did not go to university? They also seem to be hiring students who are graduating. Not currently enrolled in a training programme? It’s beautiful! You have to look for other options. Below is a list of ESL companies that hire teachers without a degree. Click on the link and find a company that matches your skills.
5. Educational qualification
Nowadays, most online companies that teach English require you to have at least a teaching qualification or license (in which case you can earn a higher salary). Unlike other companies like Vipkid, who have created their own TESOLcourses, if you want to teach at Qkids you must be certified by a third party. It is not difficult to obtain an accredited TESOL/TEFL certification of 120 hours. You will receive your certificate within a few weeks, which will boost your CV and earn you bonus points on your next job application. Let’s TEFL is a good option. I followed it myself and I can only recommend it. It is accredited and accepted by online schools.
6. Qkids Technical requirements
To teach at Qkids, you must also meet their specifications. In other words, you should (at the very least):
- Computer with webcam
- Headphones with microphone
- Stable internet connection (Ethernet cable is preferred)
Computer training (Windows 7 (or higher) and macOS 10.9 (or higher). is a mandatory requirement. This can be frustrating for iPad fans, but there’s no getting around it. It is very important that you can teach against a clean background and in good light. You can use a table lamp or a round selfie lamp with phone holder if you want to stand out. You must also have a stable internet connection. Even if your wifi network works well, it’s always good to have a backup plan in case something goes wrong, because time is of the essence when learning online. Therefore, the Ethernet cable may be useful. You don’t want to panic if the internet sometimes goes down while you’re in the middle of a lesson.
Qkids Computer Requirements
Before you can begin training Qkids , you must provide a screenshot of your computer’s specifications to ensure that they match those required for Qkids. Qkids computer technical data:
- speed(you can check your speed here) :
- Minimum download speed : 2 Mbit/s
- Minimum download speed : 4 Mbit/s
- Qkids System Requirements:
- Processor: Dual Core 2.0 GHz or higher
- Processor model: i5/i7 series (for laptops)
- Memory: 2 GB or more
7. Minimum weekly commitment
Is ultimate flexibility your ultimate goal? Then Qkids might not be for you. Many ESL companies require a minimum number of hours, but not all. Before you register, you need to know what the minimum opening hours of Qikids are. Qkids expects all teachers to work (at least) 6 hours per week. You are expected to open slots during Beijing’s rush hour: It’s not so bad, you know. You can fit it into your schedule according to your needs and other commitments. Also, some critics say that 6 hours a week is not always available in the off-season. If you need to take time off work, this is of course possible, provided you give us two weeks’ notice. They are very flexible in this regard and allow you to take time off when you need to. Oh, you’re controlled by the system, not the parents or the students. Rest assured that holidays do NOT affect the cost of your reservation. Also, unlike other companies, Qkids does not have strict cancellation policies. You seem to understand that sometimes life can happen. Therefore, it is sufficient to inform the company 6 hours in advance, and this will not be considered a penalty when calculating the monthly salary. You have 6 waivers on contract, , so if life throws you a curveball, you’re good.
8. Qkids background check
As stated on thewebsite, Qkids recommends that all contractors undergo a Company-approved background check. Two areas to be tested: Criminal record and proof of education. That’s it. If you are eligible for Qkids, please apply here!
Does Qkids only employ experienced native speakers?
Yes, it’s true. Don’t sugarcoat it. If you are not a native speaker, but meet all the other requirements and have a North American accent, you can give it a try. But you will probably waste your time applying. Your time is precious.
